EARLY RESPONDER Training

EARLY RESPONDER Training will be offered on April 1st & 2nd for those who would like to be certified by UMCOR to go into a disaster area to make home and churches SAFE, SANITARY and SECURE.

Classes will be at Woodlands UMC on April 1st 9 AM - 3 PM and at Summit UMC in Marshall on April 2nd 2 - 8 PM. Cost is $15, which includes a T-shirt, badge & meal. Advanced Registration is required.

Attendance is limited to 2 representatives per church.

‘Exemplary Youth ministry’ event set for April

A South Central Jurisdictional training event for youth ministers/directors, pastors and others who lead youth ministries is coming up April 27-29 at Mount Sequoyah Conference and Retreat Center in Fayetteville.

“Spirit of Youth Ministry: Exemplary Youth Ministry” will explore how congregations can establish faith as a vital factor in the lives of their youth and young adults. Susan Hay, a 25-year veteran of youth ministries and a member of the General Board of Discipleship team, will be feature speaker.

Group sessions will explore effective practices for quality youth ministry, qualities of effective youth ministry, faith assets for youth ministry and congregations, and what congregations with exemplary youth ministries have in common.

Costs range from $150 to $180, depending upon accommodations. All meals and materials are included. Registration deadline is April 12.
