South Central Jurisdiction Lay Speaking Ministries Conference

This second annual meeting of the SCJLSM will be offering three advanced courses: a course on Spiritual Discipline will be taught by Sandy Ziegler, Director of Lay Leadership Development at the United Methodist General Board of Discipleship; the new course, Lay Speakers Teach Adults, will be taught by the author of the course, Dr. Diana L. Hynson, Director of Learning and Teaching Ministries with the General Board of Discipleship; and Introducing the Bible by William Barclay will be taught by John Bodnar, North Texas Conference Director of Lay Speaking Ministries. He has been a Certified Lay Speaker for 15 years and is currently on the ACDLSM Executive Committee and Chair of the Legislative Committee.

On Friday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m. there will be conference and district director training taught by Jim Lane, author of the Lay Speaking Ministries Guide for Conference and District Committees. At 3:00 p.m. Jim will follow with a short history of Lay Speaking Ministries in the Methodist Church.

Two worship services are planned, one for Friday evening, and a Consecration and Communion service on Sunday morning.
